On Foot & By Bike
Pissouri’s community maintains a network of waymarked, colour-coded footpaths through the vineyards and hillsides around the village, plus the well-known coastal trail out to Cape Aspro.
The Signature Walk
Cape Aspro Coastal Trail
The best-known walk in the area follows the coastline east from Pissouri Bay to the foot of the Cape Aspro cliffs and back — roughly 8 km round trip, taking 3 to 4 hours. The path starts near the Columbia Beach Resort and stays a few metres back from the cliff edge for most of its length, though the first stretch has a short, narrower section to take care on.
The reward is a close-up view of the white cliffs rising some 250 metres above the sea, with the deep blue of the Mediterranean spread out below. The route is fully exposed with no shade, so it is best walked in the cooler months, early morning, or late afternoon, with plenty of water and sturdy footwear.
For the exact route, see the Places of Interest map, or the trailhead marked on the Businesses page near Pissouri Bay.
Before you go
• No shade on the coastal trail — avoid the midday sun in summer
• Wear proper walking shoes; some sections are uneven or narrow
• Carry water; there are no facilities along the way
• Stay back from unfenced cliff edges, especially in wind
